Conference offers quality educational sessions

This year’s School Design & Construction Conference will give attendees the opportunity to learn about school facilities design and construction themes in two general sessions and more breakout sessions than ever before.

A highlight at this year’s conference will be an exhibit featuring student architectural design submissions from all over Pennsylvania as part of the School Architectural Design Competition. Also, a superintendent track has been added this year to help chief school administrators who may never have been through a building project.

In addition, more than 40 industry professionals from architects to contractors will participate in an exhibit show. Attendees can meet with these exhibitors to discuss projects and make contacts.

Choose from these sessions to learn more about topics that relate to your district.

Educational Trends Shaping School Planning and Design: 2007
Dr. Ken Stevenson examines educational trends potentially influencing the planning and design of school facilities. Although one cannot know exactly how such trends might play out in the future, thoughtful consideration during the planning and design process could have a profound effect on how successfully a new or renovated school will perform over its useful life.
The educational trends in Stevenson’s report were identified by reviewing the latest research on school facilities and student outcomes; current issues, problems and initiatives in the educational field; emerging demographic patterns; and the author’s previous work on this subject. Stevenson will present 12 identified trends that can and should help districts with school planning and design for now and for the future.
Presenter: Dr. Ken Stevenson, chair, Department of Educational Leadership & Policies

Closing Session
